Call it a picture perfect weekend.
Grandfather Mountain’s annual Nature Photography Weekend returns June 6-8. This three-day workshop features presentations from renowned photographers; hands-on field courses; one-of-a-kind shooting opportunities; and a friendly, but competitive photo contest.
This year’s revamped version of the popular weekend includes changes to better accommodate all levels of photographers, making it more fun and engaging for all while better connecting participants with the wonders and unique ecology of Grandfather Mountain. This year, more than ever, participants can expect to not only learn about photography, but also gain inspiration to preserve the natural world. Activities begin Friday evening and conclude Sunday midday.
Participants may camp for free at Grandfather’s Woods Walk Picnic Area during the weekend, taking advantage of one of the few opportunities to stay overnight inside the park.
An event ticket covers three-day admission to the park, entry into the weekend’s contest, the opportunity to camp at Woods Walk, the Friday social, the Saturday dinner, speaker presentations and sunrise/sunset access. A reduced-price option includes all of the above, with the exception of the photo contest. In addition, family members and guests of participants may visit the mountain at a discounted rate during the weekend if registered in advance.
Online registration is required. Click here to register. (Opens April 9 and closes June 5, unless the event sells out earlier.)
