The Helping Hands Concert Series brings stars from across the music spectrum to Banner Elk this summer for three benefit concerts. Shows take place at Hayes Auditorium on the campus of Lees-McRae College to raise funds for those impacted by Hurricane Helene in Avery and Watauga counties.
The June 20 concert features Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates and two-time Grammy winning singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale.
John Oates is one half of the best-selling duo of all time, Hall & Oates, as well as an accomplished solo artist. He’s a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, American Songwriters Hall of Fame, recipient of the prestigious BMI Icon Award as well as numerous American Music and MTV awards. Hall & Oates recorded more than 20 Top-40 hits.
Jim Lauderdale is a country, bluegrass, and Americana singer-songwriter who has released 34 studio albums, won two Grammy Awards and has written songs for such artists as George Strait, Elvis Costello, Blake Shelton, Vince Gill and Patty Loveless.
Each concert in the Helping Hands series is expected to sell out. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP reserved seats. A limited number of fans can purchase tickets to a special VIP meet and greet reception prior to each show. Those meet-and-greet tickets are $225 per person.
