Sugar Mountain, NC 28604
The Sugar Mountain Resort Summit Crawl is a fun and competitive event (if you want it to be) via foot to Sugar Mountain’s 5,300’ peak by way of the Easy Street, Gunther’s Way, and Northridge slopes. It’s just for fun, but we’ll time you and give out prizes. The course is approximately 6,500 feet or 1.2 miles. The vertical climb is 1,200 feet.
Entry fee includes T-shirt & down-loading on Summit Express. Competitors can ride the Summit Express back to the base of Sugar Mountain Resort. The competitor’s bib grants him/her a lift-ride back to the base of the mountain. It is a one-way lift ticket. Adults (13 and older) $40; children (ages 12 and younger) $30. Competitors may register online, by fax, phone, snail mail until 4 p.m., Friday, July 3, or in-person until 8:30 a.m., Saturday, July 4. Awards take place at approximately noon on the main deck.
Mass start on gravel/dirt road directly in front of the base lodge. The designated route begins slope-side on the gravel/dirt road directly in front of the base lodge. Then travels between the Summit Express lift bottom station and the Ski/Snowboard School building. Then turns left up the Easy Street slope, then right toward the terrain park, under the GW lift, straight up the Gunther’s Way slope and onto the Northridge slope. The finish is at the summit. The route is marked on event day. Packet pick-up at Sugar Mountain Resort base lodge: Friday, July 3, noon-6 p.m., and Saturday, July 4, 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m.
